Hole In the Ground Art Studios, a grass roots community program with a mission to provide a multifaceted created workspace for young developing artists in the Coachella Valley, was recently awarded a $2000 Stipend from California Re-Leaf and So. California Edison to plant trees in the local community. The organization has chosen to plant desert native food bearing trees as well as citrus throughout the neighborhood. The goal is to plant a minimum of 15 trees by May 31st, 2020.
The group will also host a free educational workshop on planting trees along with how to build a Olla for water efficient gardening in the desert. The location to be determined.
Community members who wish to have a tree planted in their yards should contact Hole In the Ground Art Studios (760) 808-9508. The organization is actively seeking volunteers as well as supply donations such as shovels, mulch etc to help make it happen. The tentative dates for the community workshop and planting are Sat, April 4th and Sat May 16.
